Thanks Caggear, but what is a PCM? Well, those lights can become annoying except when something is really wrong.īottomline: worth considering in conjunction with the sophisticated repair procedure already mentioned. I'm fairly sure the Coolant Level sensor is tied into the PCM, rather than just a straight path to the light on the dash. Basically, when the car thinks you have driven it enough in an all-clear state, it kills the light. When I check the reservoir and the radiator both are full and do not need any topping up. ok guys i just got a 2000 impala 3.8L its got a few issues but i love it. ![]() I believe (and I don't have my shop manual handy right now) most sensors such as this require three to ten drive cycles to clear. Just to make sure I wasn't getting dimential I googled and plucked this cute exchange from another forum: One thing to consider when looking for an adhesive to fix this problem is the temp range the epoxy is rated for. The Low Coolant light will not come on anymore, but you will now need to keep tabs on the antifreeze fluid level in the reservoir by occasionally checking the fluid level. As already instructed, smack the side of the tank to get the low coolant light off. Unplug the sensor plug, and reattach the reservoir bottle. A qualified mechanic can perform a pressure test to diagnose the source of the leak and determine the best course of action to repair it. ![]() ![]() I remembered a wise old sage on the forum helped me posting when I had this problem after mega flush 15 years ago. The AC/ defrost clutch cycle is probably not working because you pulled the fan relay. If the low coolant light comes on frequently, or if the coolant level is consistently low, it may indicate a leak in the cooling system.
